My Go-To Saturday Spot in Tempe: The Picklr
October 31, 2026 · 3 min read · Ahwatukee
Saturday mornings at The Picklr
A lot of Saturday mornings, you'll find me at The Picklr in Tempe. And sometimes during the week, when I can sneak away. I'm Amy Richardson with Savvy Realty Group, and I live in Ahwatukee, so this is one of the places I send people when they ask what a weekend looks like here.
The video above is the 40-second version. Here is the rest.
What you can do there
There are a few easy ways to start:
- Open play. The simplest way to try it.
- Reserve a court for you and your friends, or set up your own round robins.
- Book the ball machine if you want to drill.
- Take a lesson that matches your level.
- Leagues and tournaments if you want something more competitive.
There is also a challenge court, where a win keeps you on for three games. On the regular courts, it's paddle up, four on, four off.
A money tip
I use Active&Fit for my membership. A lot of health plans include it, so ask your provider what yours covers. I'm not giving financial advice here, just telling you what I do and what worked for me.
Where it is
According to The Picklr's own site, the Tempe club is at 1315 W. Elliot Rd., Tempe, AZ 85284, phone 480.739.2370, with 8 indoor courts. Its pages list different hours, so check with the club before you go.
What's your Saturday spot?
If you are thinking about a move to the Southeast Valley and wondering what daily life looks like, my Ahwatukee Relocation Guide and my post on living next to South Mountain are good places to start. And tell me yours. What is your Saturday spot? Send me a note and I'll add it to my list.
